Seeing the sky crack

We sent out that call in the ocean to exclaim that we needed help. The waves gushed over and over, drowning us while we stood at port yelling ahead. The anchors were cut loose and the boat went flowing with the rough sea. Every wave was like death holding its scythe up to our throats and laughing while we feared for our lives. The captain stood at his wheel, cold, broken and beaten. He knew it was the end. The boat kept fighting, the punches kept coming and we were dying. I grabbed my knife, found the plastic window and carved "Your actions cannot save us, nor will your words. We are gone"

Draft snippet #1

And I thought I could find the cure in a therapist's office, but you followed me around the world. You dug yourself in the deepest crevices of my mind and every corner of every shady pub my tired legs decided to walk into. I packed a piece of you into my suitcase and you integrated yourself into my periphery while I soaked up every sight I could see before you could inject yourself into it. I spoke for hours while he waved his hands around wiping you away from my mind, but still you followed me.

Bruises

A bruise may show itself in every day conversation, say when I speak to you about my day. It could show itself in the nanosecond I hesitate to run after your ghost as it disappears behind every street corner. It shows itself when I fall asleep at night and it shows as my eyes struggle to open in the morning. But the beautiful thing about bruises is that it doesn't hurt, it doesn't react and you may not know it's there... Until you apply the right amount of pressure.
